Antonia (Ford Models)
After our travels to Brazil had ended I finally found the time to really reflect about the experiences we had, the amazing locations we have found and the great people we have met. In this process of thinking I realised that I actually saw and experienced a lot of things that I found beautiful - things that I personally want to see in my pictures. At the time we were there it was just too much to actually realise it.
This place has so many great motives that I haven't yet captured all. After a while this led to the decision that I want to make a project out of this and finally came up with the idea of making it my first book. I will be working on this from now on and as soon as there is more news I will let you guys know of course!

Last week we did a roadtrip to Italy to shoot a musicvideo in tuscany. I didn't have a lot of time to take photographs with all the filming going on but here's the first set of pictures I shot. I also took some analogue ones, I will post them soon!
Note: I've been kind of neglecting the blog lately due to work and other stuff, which I'm really sorry for! My blog is really important to me and I'll try to post more again! I also just did a re-design making the pictures bigger and better to look at and the whole layout even simpler and easier to use. I hope you like it! Thank you very for your support!

Most of us don’t care about problems that are not right in front of us, that don’t directly affect us in any way. We choose to ignore instead of facing the problems that are out there. For me, now is the time to change that, it’s time to act.
How many times has our generation been questioned what we are actually about? Are we kids sitting in front of our computers, lonely and bored? Are we mass consumers that throw away everything that’s older than one year? Are we a generation that doesn’t stand for anything? Yes, to a certain degree we are exactly what they accuse us of. But to a much larger and more important part we have power! We have the power of connecting, of sharing information, ideas, knowledge and most importantly education. This is more power than any generation has had before us, and it’s time to use our power and not waste it! It’s time to make smarter decisions and make this planet a better place!
I’m sure most of you have been confronted with this topic a number of times but apparently nothing is changing which is why you certainly can’t stress this enough! We simply buy too much stuff we don’t really need. We spend our money on cheap products and bad material instead of investing it in a reasonable amount of things and good quality. A five Euro t-shirt can’t have possibly been produced in good working conditions, just like it can’t possibly be good quality what you’re about to wear! So instead of enjoying these incredibly cheap prices start to question things! Start to realize that other people are suffering for these prices! They are far away and you will probably never see them, unless they’re on television, but they are there!
It’s so unbelievably sad that in our time – with a highly civilized society, advanced technology and enough resources for everyone on this planet – there is still so much injustice, so much poverty. We’re enjoying life in our European bubble and decide not to care, someone else will care, someone else will do something… No, they won’t! We have to do something! We have to make use of the power we have, as consumers.
Businesses will always go for the highest profit, no matter what. I’m not saying all businesses are like that, but most of their CEOs are just assholes. They won’t do anything to change the situation – even though they had the power – as long as people are buying. We have to stop buying in order to make a change. It’s about buying less and choosing well. H&M for instance (with a lot of factories in India and Bangladesh where the working conditions are horrible, people are getting bad illnesses from all the chemicals used in production and workers are dying in fires because the factory buildings are not designed for the number of people working there – read about it here) is planning on producing even MORE clothes for even CHEAPER prices in the next few years. Wait? Really? Yes, true story. Why do they do that? Because it seems there is demand for that. This demand needs to decrease! We need to stop this madness!
Now, unlike H&M, there are other brands where the price madness is not as obvious. Like I mentioned before, everyone who had some kind of a brain will realize that a five euro t-shirt can’t possibly be good, but what about a 50 Euro t-shirt? A higher price doesn’t necessarily mean the working conditions and the quality are better. Often it just means that the profit margin is much higher. Abercrombie & Fitch for example is using the same factories as H&M. True story again! One of their clothes has even been proofed to have an ingredient that’s causing cancer. What do they do? Just take it out of the store and go on, selling their bullshit clothes to teenagers who are obsessed with the lifestyle.
One of the reasons why I’m writing this on here is because I think that the industry of fashion blogs has a large share in this development, too. Young, intelligent people have become very influential and are now used by major brands to work for / with them (and their clothes, often produced in horrible conditions, in bad quality and for cheap prices – not telling any names) without questioning what they are actually promoting to their readers. I certainly don’t want to come off as “I’m such a good person, I don’t do any of this and all the others are bad” but I’m trying very hard to cause a change and use my influence for something good - both in my life and in yours, by changing my own habits and by writing this.
So what do we do? Vivienne Westwood said: “Buy less or don’t buy anything at all”. Of course that’s quite radical and probably not realistic for most people but it should be an inspiration. Buy less! You don’t need to buy ten new t-shirts, two are good as well. And when you buy something, give a shit about where it’s made and what the quality is like. It’s much nicer to appreciate the true value of something that has been made out of a great fabric. You will take more care of it and it will last longer. And that’s what it should be like. We need to learn to appreciate the value of things.
